Storm Chasers - oswestry

What an amazing weekend the team have had at Oswestry (13th & 14th July 2018). The heat has been testing at times but we managed. Saturday saw Wash Warriors seeded first in division 6, all the dogs ran amazingly well and very consistently hitting our declared time on a regular basis. The last race of the day saw us putting in a sub 20s time of 19.97. Not far off the club record time of 19.93. All races were dropped to 3 heats in the afternoon, for the sake of the dogs' welfare due to the excessive high temperatures, taking our total heats to 16 in the day. We only dropped one heat on the first race of the day giving us a 1st place rosette to bring home.

We had our amazing guest dog Amber with handler Tom back for this weekend. Amber ran some fab times again proving she is a perfect fit in our lovely little team. So looking forward to having them at the Champs.

Congratulations to Jack for gaining his Cadet Advance award. He was so up for racing this week.

Sunday saw us joining in with Singles and Pairs. Jack our Welsh Springer did amazingly well running against Tails and Stormies. He was met at the second jump on the first race by Dilys from Tails, whom he found very interesting, but carried on coming back in the afternoon faster than he had in the morning, posting a 5.65s.

Millie and Sheena had amazing pairs racing for the first session posting an 8.70s which was spot on their declared time. Unfortunately due to the heat Millie had to step out of the second session so we did a bit of training with Sheena to see if revving her up we could get a faster time and a better start. She only went and did her fastest time of 4.11s and a start of 0.04s.

I can’t thank Dolphins and Reiver enough for all their help again and look forward to enjoying the first ever UKFL champs with them.

We look forward to returning here later in the year.
