Market Harborough - 7th Feb 2026

The first competition of the year was held by Molten Magnets at Market Harborough (a new venue) Leisure Centre. An early start for us as we had one set of lights going in so away from home by 5.15am! Arrived just before 7am, (Teen and Dean beat us there) and unloaded in the dark. Once the lights were set up and working (thanks to the team for their help) we were almost ready to start as racing began at 8am.

Wash Warrriors were in first in Division 1 and seeded 4th out of 7 teams. Having not raced since November we were treating this as a fun day especially as division 1 times were well spread and we wanted to get back into the spirit of things. The team consisted of Lottie (Teen), Bessie (Ash), Blue (Gem) and Eddie (Claire), Teen back on starts with Lottie and Eddie anchor dog. We had 3 races in the morning and managed to win 2 of them, hitting 16.90s which ended up as our best time of the day. We won 1 of the 3 races in the afternoon session but somehow managed to come away with 3rd place in the division. The team gelled nicely and were looking really good, consistently hitting 17s times and also pleased with the times in the 16s.

Ninja Warriors consisted of Maggie (Ash), Jessie (Tina), Stan (Dean), Darcy (Di), Lottie (Lisa) and Indie (Jemma). They were in Div 2 and seeded 6th out of 7 teams. Some of these dogs were really ready to race and were off like rockets but weren't as consistent as they do not all usually race together as a team. Jessie shared starts with Maggie who even managed earlies much to Ash's surprise with Maggie hitting 4.3s and Jessie 4.5s. The team only managed to win 1 heat all day (their best time of the day being 18.76 sec) and came away with 7th position in the division but they all had great fun and loved being back in the lanes.

Roman Warriors consisted of Wren (Ash), Flo (Gem), Zarah (Julia), Mabel (Jemma), Star (Lisa) and Bonnie (Jemma). They were in Div 3 and seeded 4th out of 6 teams and as usual these dogs were steady as rocks. Wren ran starts (apart from 1 race when Flo took over) and either Star or Mabel ran anchor. They managed to win 3 of their 5 races throughout the day and came away with 4th place maintaining their seed position and hitting a 20.45s and best time of the day.

The 4th division Tina was judging and we all took turns with ring party covering the whole ring. We are now a family club well and truly with Finn, who is now 1 year old, and the babies Ava and Austin. They were all very well behaved today and how they manage to sleep through all the racket that 2 rings make I have no idea!!

Racing finished at a really reasonable time today, around 6.30 and lights and equipment were packed away ready for presentation. Congratulation go to Wren for gaining her Flyball dog (1000 pts) award and to Eddie for gaining his Flyball dog Advanced (5000 pts) award today.

All we can say is roll on the spring and summer for more racing as we don't have another tournament until April now.
