Oakridge 20/21st January 2024

Updated: Feb 6

The start of a new year saw us at Oakridge joining Rockin for their first competition of the year.

Saturday we had 3 teams in.

Vikings consisting of Maggie, Flo, Bonnie, Willow and Charly, were in division 5 seeded 2. They proved to be as steady as ever putting a new time of 21.39 running really well and not dropping a race, coming home with 1st place. We had a new handler (Katy Tointon) running an experienced dog (Bonnie) and she did awesome, congratulations Katy you took it all in your stride running Bonnie both in the team and on starts.

Aztec consisting of Blue, Lottie, Bessie and Jessie who are really starting to gel. They were running new times of low 18s but the high today was hitting a new seed time and Club record of 17.90s. They broke out a total of 5 times so couldn't be placed but we are really proud of these dogs (2 experienced and 2 green) as they are likely to be flying our flag in the future.

Wash Wally, consisting of Eddie and stooge dog Jack, was wfc. Jack loved being back in the ring even if he was just barking encouraging Eddie. Eddie is now making some great progress in gaining his confidence in the ring and we can't wait for him to rejoin Aztec when he says he's ready as this will bring their times down even more as Eddie was running low 4s all day.

Sunday we were back for another days racing.

Wash Warriors (Pip, Stan, Zarah and Indie) were seeded last in Division 3 on a seed time of 19.06s and we were up against teams running 18 seconds with the top seed in the 17s. This team had a great time and only dropped one race today bringing home 1st place and a new seed time of 18.72s.

Brave Warriors, our foundation team consisted of Mabel today. We've been working on her ball spitting in training and she never let us down today only dropping one heat first thing by running out cos daddy was on the box and it was just too exciting!!! Mabel came home with 2nd place gaining 11/12 clear runs and putting in times sub 5s.

All in all we had a great weeking with all teams making great strides. It's been a long haul but at long last we are getting some quicker times and becoming more competitive.

We are looking forward to Ryton now in 2 weeks time.
